I met Pepper in 2013 when he brought a group of Freedom Alliance wounded veterans to Los Sueños for the first international Heroes Vacation. I saw that he had a knack for getting the ‘magical’ moments between people. I have worked with dozens of professional photographers over the years and it is nearly impossible for anyone to grasp the subtle nuances, inner feelings and pure joy that last mere heartbeats…but Pepper somehow does. Since 2015 he has been our official tournament photographer for the Los Sueños Triple Crown billfish series and it is wonderful to see how he has grown in this capacity. He continues to amaze with his photos and his outgoing personality and humility endear him to all.
Having attended close to 300 billfish tournaments around the world in my 20 years as a marine wildlife artist, I have had the opportunity to work with and observe numerous tournament photographers. Pepper’s “eye” for catching that exact moment, whether a billfish jumping, a smiling mate rigging baits, or the winning smiles at a tournament awards banquet is second to none! Add to that his knowledge of the latest camera technology, social media applications and his willingness to always help in any situation.... Pepper would be my number one choice of tournament photographers at any tournament I’m attending world-wide!
We invited Pepper to ride with us on the Tranquilo a couple of years ago on a pre-tournament day. I was amazed at the shots he was able to capture. He is able to tell a story with his camera. The action is a given. But the mood, the atmosphere, that interaction, those moments that only you thought were happening is what Pepper captures.
As a business we are always looking for ways to innovate and improve our company. We recognized the opportunity to improve on how we tell our story in regards to our involvement at the events that we sponsor. The combination of Pepper’s passion and personality helps captures some of the most amazing moments from these events. With such an importance on digital and social media platforms in today’s business world, having captivating and professional content helps us share and tell those stories in a way that even people not at these events are impacted from Pepper’s creativity and help them connect to our brand.
